Camping recipes

  • Beans and ground beef (mince)

4 oz. minced beef
1 can of baked beans
a pinch of chili powder
1 tbsp of paprika
1 tbsp of tomato puree

Cook the ground beef in a saucepan until browned, then drain off any excess fat. Add the beans and tomato puree and stir into the mince. Add the chili and paprika. Cook for 5 minutes and serve with pasta, in a jacket potato or on hot buttered toast. An easy meal for two persons.

  • Trail mix

This is not a "cooked"recipe, but provides a great source of energy and a tasty snack between meals, when you are fishing or hiking.

1 cup of granola
half a cup of peanuts
half a cup of raisins
1 cup of your favorite dried cereal
half a cup of mini chocolate chips
half a cup of your favorite dried snack

Mix ingredients in a bowl, pour into a zip lock bag for storage. It will keep nicely and you can enjoy it when you need a crunchy snack.

Camping with your Doberman

When I lived in Texas, one of my neighbors had several Doberman Pinschers. Over the years, the number changed as the dogs passed on, and younger ones were added. They went camping often and took the dogs with them. Dobermans love the water, and if you have never taken your Doberman camping and fishing and let them run and play in the water, your dog has really missed a treat. They love to retrieve just like any water dog, so be sure and take your Doberman along on your next camping trip.
